Resources include statistics from the National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion CDC) on the rate of diabetes and population disparities.
The high cost of diabetes:
Resources include American Diabetes Association (ADA) analyses of the economic impact of type 2 diabetes.
Increasing investments in healthy food access:
Resources include federal programs such as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC), and Child Nutrition Programs, and the Healthy Food Financing Initiative (HFFI).
Enhancing physical activity options:
Resources include federal physical activity guidelines, as well as public and private programs aimed at enhancing the built environment such as Complete Streets and Safe Routes to Schools.
